Located in the heart of the nation’s capital, The University Club was founded in 1904 and is one of the nation’s most historic city clubs. Just steps from the White House, the Club contains seven indoor and outdoor dining venues, 60 guest rooms, two squash courts, one pool, one full-service day spa, a newly renovated fitness complex, and special event venues. Position Summary: The Clubhouse Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of The University Club of Washington, DC. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all aspects of the clubhouse, including dining facilities, events, member services, and staff management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:
Clubhouse Operations:
- Oversee all clubhouse facilities, including dining rooms, lounges, bars, and private event spaces.
- Ensure that the clubhouse is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Food and Beverage team to maintain exceptional dining services.
- Manage and maintain inventory for food, beverages, and equipment.
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of private events and member activities.
Member Services:
- Ensure excellent member and guest experiences by providing exceptional service.
- Address member inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with club members to understand their needs and preferences.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise clubhouse management staff.
- Set performance standards, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the clubhouse budget, including cost control measures.
- Monitor and analyze financial reports to make informed decisions regarding pricing, expenditures, and revenue enhancement.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to the operation of a private club.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures for staff and members.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote club events and activities to members and potential members.
- Explore opportunities for member engagement and retention.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Club Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in club management, hospitality, or a similar role.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in budgeting and financial management.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations.
- Familiarity with local laws and regulations related to club operations.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
